Is Bollywood finished? Potential hits of 2023 and more!

2022 was one of the worst years in the history of Hindi Cinema. With just a few hits and many flops and disasters, Bollywood was said to be finished by the netizens. The rose of South Indian-led pan-Indian films like RRR, KGF 2, Karthikeya 2 and Kantara to name a few made audiences feel disconnected from the Hindi Cinema. The smaller budget films still scored some numbers but the most anticipated films like Runway 34, Bhediya, Vikram Vedha, Laal Singh Chaddha, Rakshabandhan and Ramsetu failed to bring in audiences despite great content. Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus too fell flat at the box office making it his first commercial flop in his glorious career. 

Now that 2023 has started and there are some high hopes from Bollywood, the question that makes everyone think ‘Is Bollywood really dead?’ ‘Will it make a comeback soon?’ Well, no one has the answer but here’s a list of potential hits which can revive Bollywood!

 

Pathaan

Shahrukh Khan’s comeback to films after 4 years Pathaan, costarring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, the film has generated a good buzz. It is supposed to do great numbers in the box collection. The Siddharth Anand directorial high action octane film is set to release on Republic Day week. 

 

Shehzada

Last year barring Drishyam 2, no remakes worked. Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo get a Hindi remake starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon. The film is scheduled to release next month.

 

Selfiee

Another remake of the Malayalam hit Driving Licence starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi is also anticipated to score big numbers at the box office. The trailer is supposed to be dropped in the coming week.

 

Tu Jhoothi Me Makkar

Luv Ranjan who is known for rom-com films is coming up with another quirky love story starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The film is slated to release on Holi.

 

Bholaa

After a blockbuster end to 2022, Ajay Devgn is back with another mass film. The official remake of Kaithi is touted to be the massiest film of this year. It is scheduled to release on 30 March.

 

Bawaal

The Nitesh Tiwari directorial starring Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan. According to IMDb, It tells the story of a small-town man who falls in love with the most beautiful girl in town. He wants to marry her as it can rise up his social position.

 

Rocky Rani Ki Prem Kahani

Karan Johar is back to films after 7 years. Starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan, it is scheduled to release on April 28.

 

Maidaan

Ajay Devgn is coming up with a sports drama directed by Amit Sharma. Produced by Boney Kapoor and Priyamani as the female lead, it is scheduled to release in May this year.

 

Jawan

Shahrukh Khan is joining hands with ace south director Atlee. Starring Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Vijay Sethupathi and Deepika Padukone in prominent cameos, Nayantara will be making her Bollywood debut with this film.

 

Satyaprem ki Katha

Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer romantic musical directed by national award-winning director Sameer Vidwans. It is touted to release on June 29 this year.

 

Dreamgirl 2

The second instalment of the 2019 hit Dreamgirl has gone on floors. Ananya Panday replaces Nushrratt Bharuccha in this sequel. The film is slated to release on June 23.

 

Yoddha

Siddharth Malhotra, Disha Patani and Raashi Khanna starrer Yoddha is hitting the silver screens on July 7 this year. It is helmed by Pushkar Ojha and Sagar Amble. The film is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

 

Animal

After the phenomenal success of Kabir Singh, Sandeep Reddy Vanga teams up with Ranbir Kapoor for a gangster drama. Costarring Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Tripti Damri and Bobby Deol, it is scheduled to release on August 11.

 

Salaar

Prabhas and Shruti Hassan starrer Salaar is hitting the screens this year in September. Prashant Neel directorial is touted to be a pan-India action film. It is mounted to earn big numbers.

 

Tiger 3

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif will be back this year with the blockbuster instalment of the spy action series. It is slated to release on Diwali this year.

 

Sam Bahadur

Meghna Gulzar teams up with Vicky Kaushal for a biopic on Brigadier Sam Manekshaw. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh. It is planned to release on December 1, 2023.

 

Dunki

Rajkumar Hirani and Shahrukh Khan team up for the first time for Dunki. Scheduled to release in Christmas 2023, this film also stars Tapsee Pannu. The shooting of the film is underway. 

 

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

The Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer action comedy film is touted to be one of the costliest films and has a stellar supporting cast too. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Pooja Entertainment, it is scheduled to clash with Dunki at the box office. 

Apart from these films, Soorarai Pottru remake, Pippa, Merry Christmas, and Mr and Mrs Mahi too are some cash-making films that can revive Bollywood.
