Bollywood went through a big crisis last year with all the films burning down the hill. Hardly few films earned at the box office. This Republic Day, Shahrukh Khan’s Pathaan was released and is shattering every single record at the box office. Netizens waited for four years to see Shahrukh Khan. His last film was Aanand L Rai’s Zero with Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif which was a dud at the box office. Shahrukh Khan’s comeback has given Bollywood much-needed relief after the disastrous start of 2023 with Arjun Kapoor and Tabu’s Kuttey failing flat too.

Shahrukh Khan’s much-awaited comeback, John Abraham as the villain and Deepika Padukone not only being the glam quotient but also having tough action sequences made the whole film hold a strong buzz. Thus, these factors have helped Pathaan to score a bomb at the box office. The film has already surpassed many film’s box office collections and is expected to cross 400 crores by the end of the second week and might surpass KGF 2 Hindi collections.

  Pathan is scheduled to release this coming Friday. But the controversy around it never ends. One such controversy is on the song Besharam Rang featuring Deepika Padukone and Shahrukh Khan. Few political parties and netizens found the song to be vulgar and objectifying the female lead. Well, the song sung by Shilpa Rao and composed by Vishal Shekhar and has over 200 million views on the YouTube channel of YRF (Yashraj Developers) has been criticized for promoting male gazing, here's my analysis on male gazing and the portrayal of women in the songs of Indian films.
