2022 was one of the worst years in the history of Hindi Cinema. With just a few hits and many flops and disasters, Bollywood was said to be finished by the netizens. Darlings is a 2022 released dark comedy film directed by debutante Jasmeet K Reen, starring Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma in leading roles. The film showcases the domestic violence faced by Badru after her husband Hamza starts torturing her and pacifying it with an apology.  Another similar film with domestic abuse and misogyny as its core theme released is the 2022 Malayalam flick Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey . The film stars Darshana Rajendran and Basil Joseph and is directed by Vipin Das. The film shows how Jaya faces a severe backlash of violence from her husband.  As the film further moves ahead, Jaya takes matters into her hands realising her own worth! These two films have the same core theme and genre of treating the subject.
